The Caring Center has adopted “The Raising a Reader” Program; a nationally recognized early literacy initiative.
- The Caring Center is the only Early Childhood Facility in Philadelphia that holds the Affiliate License.
- The affiliate license was awarded to the Caring Center in 2008 by the national affiliate after the successful implementation as a United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania Early to Learn program participant.
- More than 100 children enjoy Raising a Reader each week.
- Raising a Reader supports healthy brain development and critical skills needed for school success.
- This program fosters parent – child bonding and engages them in a routine of daily “book cuddling” with their children from birth to age 5.
- Teachers support parents through developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
- The Caring Center has received funding for this program from:
