A Letter From The Executive Director

I hope all is well. I am writing this letter to request your support for the expansion of the Caring Center. We intend to expand into a 5,000 square foot facility directly adjacent to our existing building located at 31st and Spring Garden. This expansion will allow the Center to serve 30-35 additional children and will lead to the creation of 4 additional jobs. This project will not only serve the needs of families and children in need of quality early childhood education, but will also serve as an economic development project as both construction and permanent jobs will be created. With the economic recession, everyone in the home is forced to work or to seek gainful employment, making quality childcare a must have. Your tax deductible gift of $1000 - $100 today will make a huge difference in the future of our children.

The Caring Center currently serves 165 children and their families and with the expansion, will serve up to 200 families. The addition of this space will allow The Caring Center to reduce its waiting list by 10%, serve more children and families in need, and improve our financial condition and thus our internal capacity to do more. The expansion will allow for economies of scale, lowering our per-unit cost of childcare delivery and improve our cash flow annually.

This 5,000 square foot space, located at 32nd and Spring Garden Streets is directly adjacent to the Caring Center and shares a parking pad. Children would not have to cross the street to go between buildings negating the unsafe condition of crossing the street. The new space is on the 1st Floor, has two bathrooms with one being ADA compliant; a small kitchen, office space, training space and conference room. The total cost to secure and renovate the space is approximately $100,000.

Time is of the essence as the landlord is holding the space for The Caring Center without a signed lease. The space is a former day care site so no zoning or major rehab is needed to make the space move-in ready. No major infrastructure improvements are needed, making this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity - a day care in place next to an existing day care. We would expect renovations to begin immediately and request your financial support to help us meet our goals.

The Caring Center is an independent, not-for-profit organization formed by parents and professional staff to deliver exemplary early childhood education and promote family and community development in the Greater Philadelphia region. The Caring Center seeks to develop children in a wholelistic manner by harnessing the emotional, intellectual, physical, and social capacity of each child in a safe and nurturing environment. The Caring Center is dedicated to educating children in a curious and diverse environment.

Your gift is 100% tax deductible. Thanks so much for your support of our children in the past and for your anticipated support for this most urgent matter.

Sincerely,

Sherilynn J. Kimble
Executive Director
