Young Toddler Program
Young Toddlers (12 – 24 months old)
With a staff ratio of one teacher for every five young toddlers, activities are both child-initiated and teacher- directed. This fosters emerging independence, cooperation, socialization and decision-making skills. At this stage, children transition to one nap at a consistent daily time. They master using a sippy cup, and practice honing skills like using a utensil, putting on a coat, etc., as part of their developing ‘self-help’ skills.
Toddlers (24 months – 3 years old)
Older toddlers have a more structured day. A brief morning circle time is introduced, a scheduled nap time is included, and eventually, use of the toilet is practiced and mastered. A variety of activities that help foster independence, socialization, cooperation, and decision-making skills are offered throughout the day. If a child prefers not to participate in the planned activity, he or she may choose to play with other toys or books or spend time in independent play.ing.
