Pre-K1 <\/strong>(~3 \u2013 4 years old)<\/p>

Our Pre-K1 class is designed to meet the needs of children who are transitioning from being older toddlers to becoming young Pre-K students. Children in this group may or may not be fully potty-trained yet. They are learning to use their developing social skills, and working to master number and letter recognition. Activities tend to concentrate on practical life experiences, sensorial exploration, and receptive\/expressive language skills.<\/p>

Pre-Kindergarten <\/strong>(3 \u2013 5 years old)<\/p>

Pre-Kindergarten begins at approximately three years of age. At this stage, children have mostly mastered using the toilet, and they are now learning to become a part of a larger group \/ class. While the program may vary a bit from class to class (depending on the needs of the individual children in each class), all TCC Pre-Kindergarten classes provide a nurturing environmental and synchronized conceptual theme.\u00a0 Activities are presented to develop fine and gross motor skills, pre-writing, pre-reading, language, and positive social and emotional conduct.\u00a0 Since children develop at their own pace, individual programs are developmentally appropriate and are designed to meet their unique needs. \u00a0<\/p>

Kindergarten Transition<\/strong> (~5 \u2013 6 years old)<\/p>

The Kindergarten Transition (KT) Classroom is designed for children who are 5 years old (or almost, just-about 5) and, because of the timing of their birthdate, they\u2019ve missed entering Kindergarten in September with other children who may be only a month or two older than them. Rather than repeating another year of Pre-K, we use a \u2018graduated\u2019 curriculum to introduce new challenges for our KT class, and support them in doing \u2018kindergarten-level\u2019 work, like writing in our journals and learning to read. Classroom instruction occurs through an investigative, active learning approach, with focused learning centers to foster play and learning.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
